Role Description

This is a full-time entirely remote Director role at Caveon, on the Caveon Audit & Response Solutions (CARS) Team. Please note travel requirements. The Director’s duties for CARS include, but are not limited to:

  • In collaboration with Caveon colleagues, actively participate in the planning and delivery of all services provided by CARS to Caveon clients, including but not limited to: Test Security Audits, on-site monitoring of test administrations, audits of (bricks and mortar) test centers, secret shopping of test administrations via remote online proctoring and (bricks and mortar) test centers, investigating proxy test taking services and technologies that enable proxy test taking or unauthorized computer-assisted test taking, conducting investigations of suspected test security breaches and providing bespoke test security consulting and advisory services.
  • Serve as a lead test security auditor and consultant.
  • Draft, review and revise reports for Caveon clients.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and prospective clients about ongoing and future projects with Caveon Audit and Response Solutions.
  • Play a leading role in the development of new products and services and improvement of existing products and services.
  • Utilize Caveon and other third-party software services to enhance the value and efficiency of Caveon’s services, including but not limited to the use of generative artificial intelligence platforms that rely on large language models.
  • Actively participate in the sales and marketing of services for CARS.
  • Draft, review and revise proposals and statements of work for CARS.
  • Manage and deliver services and supervise assigned contractors and Caveon employees.
  • Identify and train contractors to deliver certain test security services.
  • Train selected Caveon staff in delivery of certain test security services.
  • Represent Caveon at conferences and in trade organizations.
  • The role requires travel for approximately 25-30% of the time.  

 

Education, Experience and Credentials Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree or JD from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Professional certifications related to auditing, compliance, cybersecurity or investigations (e.g., CFE, CISSP, CIA, ASIS) are a significant plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in a client-facing role within a consulting, advisory, auditing, law or investigative firm, or 6+ years in federal law enforcement agency or an office of inspector general in a white collar investigations role, or 6+ years working in a management position for a testing organization, with primary responsibility for or oversight of test security.

Location:

Hours:

General Summary of Responsibility:

  • The primary functions of a Data Forensics Scientist are to interpret data forensics results, prioritize results in terms of risk to test security, and communicate statistical information to clients verbally and through written summary reports.
  • Secondary functions include assisting in conducting research on statistical methods to detect potential test fraud and documenting statistical methods and analysis procedures.
  • The primary function of a Data Engineer at Caveon is to successfully process client data, which requires understanding the data structure and elements, verifying correctness of the data, formatting the data, and learning to use our internal tools and system.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and review summary reports explaining and interpreting data forensics results and prioritizing results in terms of risk to test security.
  • Communicate data forensics methods and results to a variety of remote and in-person audiences.
  • Conduct thorough research on current and/or new statistical methods to detect potential test fraud.
  • Meticulously document statistical methods and procedures and review existing documentation for accuracy and understandability.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop research questions, design analyses, and brainstorm new or expanded statistical methodology.
  • Write, launch, and monitor scripts for automated conversion of data formats, processing of data, and creation and formatting of Excel outputs based on the results
  • Collaborate remotely with clients and team members to understand data including: assessing unfamiliar data, developing questions about variables and data entries, thinking critically about required versus optional variables and develop solutions for completing data analysis, developing solutions to address unique problems posed by novel data structures, formats, and types

Confidentiality of client identities and specifics of the data forensics system and statistical results is critical.

Job Details: Caveon is seeking experienced test administrators to assist with the monitoring of state assessments in Florida and Louisiana. This opportunity requires travel for one week to in Florida or Louisiana sometime between April 23 and May 30. In addition to paying all monitors a competitive hourly wage, Caveon will reimburse all reasonable travel costs in accordance with its travel expense policy. This role would require you to work with a monitoring partner (assigned by Caveon) to visit schools while they are administering state assessments. The workday starts at about 6 AM and should not extend past 2 PM.

The role would require you to conduct a scripted interview of the School Test Coordinator, observe the distribution of secure test materials and then spend time in testing rooms monitoring active testing sessions, all in accordance with step-by-step protocols provided by Caveon. All monitoring observations are entered into Caveon’s proprietary cloud-based platform using an iPad provided by Caveon.

You would also be required to participate in a mandatory remote 4-hour online training session for this role, which will be conducted the week of April 10. You will be required to submit to a criminal background check prior to participating in training.

Compensation: 1099 independent contractor, competitive hourly rate.
Travel reimbursement will be paid for anyone traveling more than 45 miles one way in accordance with Caveon’s travel reimbursement policy.

Caveon Real-Time Assessment Administration Monitors must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

    • Certified Exam Security Professional™ (CESP-Generalist) with at least 2 years of experience in any aspect of assessment
    • Test center administrator or proctor with at least 2 years of experience administering high-stakes tests in a professional test center or college test center
    • Assessment professional with at least 3 years of experience in test administration
    • Current, former or retired educator, school counselor or school administrator with at least 3 years of experience administering standardized statewide assessments in a group setting
    • Current, former or retired educator, school counselor or school administrator with at least 3 years of experience administering either the ACT or the SAT
    • Retired federal law enforcement officer
    • Retired state law enforcement officer with at least 5 years’ experience conducting fraud investigations
    • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with at least 2 years of experience since becoming certified
    • Licensed (in any state) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with at least 2 years of external auditing experience
    • ASIS Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) with at least 2 years of experience since becoming certified
    • Third-Year law students
    • Licensed (in any state) attorney

As a Secret Shopper, you will be responsible for evaluating the quality of service, compliance with protocols, and overall customer experience at various professional testing centers. Your insights will help ensure that these centers maintain high standards and provide an optimal testing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
